YOUR FIRST VISIT

X-Rays are an integral part of your dental exam. They can, in most cases, be the most effective way to detect cavities, gum disease, or bone loss before they worsen For this reason, they will be done at every new patient exam. If you have had recent x-rays done with another provider within the last six months of your appointment, we will do the best we can to utilize them depending on their quality/legibility. We understand this can be frustrating, but your health is top priority to us.
For additional information about dental xrays:
Your comfort is a priority and we will work to make your appointment as smooth and comfortable as possible. During your exam, we will first review your medical health history including medications to ensure a complete understanding of your current health status before obtaining a series of x-ray images. Then Dr. Price will discuss your goals for your dental health before completing your comprehensive exam which includes:
-
Review your x-rays with you
-
A complete oral cancer screening which includes an examination of your jaw, neck, tongue and inside of your mouth. This screening is important and recommended one per year.
-
Periodontal (gum) exam to determine gum health
-
Examination of each individual tooth to identify decay, fractures, or mobility.
This initial exam will take about an hour and is important so your dental team can identify any issues that may be developing. Based on your exam, Dr. Price will discuss his findings, develop possible treatment plans and provide all your options to you. We believe your healthcare should be transparent and want you to feel as confident as possible in your treatment plan.
A cleaning may be done after the comprehensive exam is completed after the exam, if due, and Dr. Price ensures it is the appropriate treatment for your specific oral health.
